So Beast Boy, Alan Scott is by no means a new combo. By now, most everyone has either seen this combo played or played it themselves. It was even the sleeper combo that tried to break out at the DCDB Oklahoma championship on March 17, 2018.

Unfortunately, the combo never won a pod at that tournament, and players have slowly stopped picking up the little green dude due to the combo not looking successful. However, since I started playing DCDB competitively, this combo has been literally the only combo I've played. After a finals finish at DCDB Texas Championship, I feel like I can give some input on my play style with this combo and explain the mistakes other people make most often when playing it.

The correct way to play this deck is to be simple-minded and to not try too hard. Your goal is to consistently draw your entire deck as often possible. When I'm playing this deck, every match is linear for me, which is something I kind of enjoy in a game where the cards you play with are different every time. The main difference between how I pilot the deck and how I see others pilot it is that I almost never buy a card which isn't a Super Power -- unless the card meets specific requirements (which I'll get into in a second).

So I'm not joking when I say, if no other Super Powers flip, I'll spend every turn just buying Kicks. Even towards the later stage of the game, if no Kicks are left, I'll actually just pass on turns where I generate a lot power (but not enough power to buy the Super Villain) just because I don't want to buy non-Super power cards. I do this because non-Super Power cards can just interrupt my Alan Scott/Beast Boy combo, which tilts me off the face of the earth.

The only exceptions to the "only buy Super Power cards" rule are the following cards:
So some quick reasoning behind the cards listed above.:

Cards, like T-Wing, generate a lot of VP at the end of the game, and I've had these cards single handedly win me games. All of the cards listed in the first bullet point give star value VP and allow a player to generate a lot of VP without the player needing to change their entire game plan, meaning they will still be able to combo off as normal.

Cards that make you draw cards without having some form of drawback are absolutely insane. Even if the card just draws one card, it replaces itself and has the chance of drawing into a game-changing card, like Elephant Form or Heat Vision, which may be what is needed to not stall out in the middle of a turn.

I know Firestorm Matrix may seem like a very specific card, but having a Firestorm Matrix means the player is now guaranteed an Alan Scott/Beast Boy trigger every turn -- as long as the new "ongoing" card is a Super Power -- making the combo extremely consistent. If the new "ongoing" card is a NON-KICK Super Power, then this combo becomes extremely dangerous and every other intelligent player should immediately scoop. This is an aggressive "I'm going to end the game before my opponent can farm" deck. So these good-value cards do very little except interrupt a player's combo and make the player stumble because their deck doesn't have enough Super Power cards to draw the entire deck.

So the TL;DR version of this strategy is:
1.) only buy Super Powers, with the few exceptions mentioned above
2.) don't try to hate out other players
3.) DON'T OVERTHINK IT!
