[{"header":"UNDERSTANDING THE TEAM"},{"text":"Let's cut straight to the chase. Today we have Aquaman, Black Adam, and Constantine. This combo is similar to the Bane, Deathstroke, Constantine team, but differs in its pacing with a trade off for consistency. We'll begin by looking at Aquaman."},{"image":[{"src":"aqu15529aquaman-.jpg"},{"caption":""}]},{"text":"Aquaman is a 2 coster and pretty straightforward, as his ability reads "You may put any cards with 5 or less you buy or gain during your turn on top of your deck." The key is knowing when to do so. Keeping track of your discard pile and having an educated expectation of what is left in the deck will help maximize him in application."},{"image":[{"src":"con219531constant.jpg"},{"caption":""}]},{"text":"Constantine is a 2 costing character whose ability reads, "Once during each of your turns, reveal the top card of your deck. If its cost is 1 or greater, you may play it and it has +1 power. If you do, destroy it at the end of your turn." We've discussed Constantine in a previous team-up, but this time he is going to be functioning slightly differently.

Instead of triggering Constantine right off the bat, see if you can generate 3 power from your drawn hand to obtain a kick or superpower from the lineup and place it on top of your deck via Aquaman. It is important to try to make the three power without playing a super power to do so. If you're able to do this, Constantine will have a reliable target when activated. The kick will generate the 3 power used to buy it!"},{"image":[{"src":"bla137693black-ad.jpg"},{"caption":""}]},{"text":"So here is where it gets interesting. Black Adam is a 2 cost character that reads, "The first time you play a super power during each of your turns, you may destroy it. If you do, draw a card and gain 1 VP." This is where this team has the potential to separate from the pack. If you Constantine a Super Power, then Black Adam will be able to target that super power to destroy it for his ability, netting you 1 VP and drawing you a card. Essentially, you are double dipping when you buy a Kick and cycle it with Constantine. Not to mention the draw a card ability on top of it."},{"header":"BUT I'M BLOWING UP CARDS!!!"},{"text":"Black Adam accounts for the destruction of a 1 VP Super Power. Instead of losing VP from that card, you are just replacing the lost VP with a VP token and a free card draw."},{"header":"WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS TEAM?"},{"text":"The major difference is the 3 power that characters don't produce. That trade off is intimidating, but the advantage comes in the form of VP gain. Putting all the abilities together: you load the top of your deck (preferably with a Super Power), use Constantine to gain plus 1 power and then use Black Adam to blow up the Super Power to gain 1 VP token and draw a card.

Pacing for this deck is hard to nail down solid. This strategy is also hard to hate out because it can be fueled by the Kick stack. This is definitely a character choice option that requires a level head and good judgement on when to go for the Super Villain instead of for Kicks. The major caution is that this deck can run out of steam if you run out of Super Powers to gain VP tokens from."},{"header":"MUST BUYS"},{"double":[{"src":"sig278165signatur.jpg"},{"src":"loo522119loot-4.jpg"}]},{"text":"There are two cards that you should always be on the watch for. The first is Signature Trenchcoat. If you can Trenchcoat Super Powers back from the destroy pile, you help your acceleration in that a kick normally cost 3 to gain. Trenchcoat only makes 2 and you just fulled your character mechanics. Not to mention, some of those Super Powers that you or others have destroyed can continually be used to fuel your strategy as well.

The second thing to look for is cards from the Crossover 5 set The Rouges. Several of those cards have, "When you buy or gain this card, gain X VPs". Loot happens to be the most lucrative one, but any of them are fine. If you buy it from the lineup and Constantine it immediately, you just made one of the most powerful 4 power purchases in the game by gaining 7 VP tokens."},{"header":"THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR"},{"double":[{"src":"cat51189catwoman.jpg"},{"src":"bro439380broadswo.jpg"}]},{"text":"Beware Catwoman, since you will be heavily invested in VP tokens. She can turn the tide by stealing all your hard-earned VP over the course of a few turns. The same goes for Broadsword. Since having several low costing cards is likely for this strategy, Broadsword can disrupt your momentum as well. Outside of these cards, keep a sharp eye on the number of Kicks remaining for your disposal as the game progresses."},{"header":"TIME TRAVEL"},{"text":"Similar to the Bane strategy, there will be some unique instances where a Time Travel Super Power will appear in the lineup. Your best play is likely to use Black Adam to destroy. It could potentially set you up for being able to keep a good Super Power while also giving you the extra power needed to defeat the Super Villain that turn."},{"header":"FINAL CONSIDERATIONS"},{"text":"With the field expanding and more options becoming available, the options seem to be growing between power, consistency, and the potential for a big payoff.

This team of Aquaman, Black Adam, and Constantine is one of the most consistent types I\u2019ve seen lately. There should be a solid four turns at the start of the game that you have clear advantage over the other players.

With a little bit of planning, and a bit of luck, this team has to potential to be a major contender.

Good luck and good gaming."}]
